In January 2005, the Pastor Maldonado Foundation was created in order to give systematic form to the initiative that Pastor has always had since he was a child, which is to collaborate with his community and help children with limited resources. In this way, it was possible to channel the realization of presentations and events of a social nature, headed by the pilot himself.
“I feel very comfortable with the little ones. It is an honor to share my knowledge with them and give them all the help I can to contribute something to their lifestyle. If a child takes me as an example to follow, it will be as valuable to me as the most precious trophy for a race,” says Pastor.
Pastor Maldonado did his first great social work, when he took a break from his training when he was about to win the Italian Formula Renault 2000 Championship, to travel to Venezuela for a weekend to give his donation in person to a group of children and families who had been affected by the heavy rains that hit Venezuela that year.
He held at the Poliedro de Caracas (the most famous show center in Venezuela) his I Sports Management Festival in front of more than 300 children of scarce resources. In that unforgettable event, Pastor gave the children the opportunity to drive a racing car as a stimulus to their academic performance, and the chance to travel to Europe to witness one of his races in Estoril, Portugal. It was a theoretical-practical workshop aimed at children between the ages of 7 and 14, designed to introduce them to the basics of karting on the track.
The I Sports Driving Festival with Pastor Maldonado was sponsored by IND, the Ministry of Sports, the Metropolitan Mayor’s Office, PDVSA, PDV, CANTV, Empresas Polar, Santa Bárbara Airlines and Renault of Venezuela.
The Pastor Maldonado Foundation continues to make donations to hospitals and other charities, and also makes a beautiful contribution of toys to more than a thousand children of the popular schools during the Christmas season.
Pastor’s Foundation, performs a charity events in his native city of Maracay, joining efforts with other entities to give gifts to more than 300 children of Aragua.
“We have projected the realization of several events, where I can share closely with the children and channel them in the sporting life” said Pastor, committed to the little ones who represent the future of the country.
